Life with a APBT is awesome! I love my baby girl. She is 15 months old and spoiled rotten. Getting Bella has made my life so much better. She is always happy to see me. She doesn't judge me by how I look, she just loves me for me. It amazes me how smart she is. When teaching her something, it usually takes about 15 minutes for her to get the gist of it. She is such a loving dog. She loves to meet new people and animals. She also loves to go for a ride in the car. I've never seen a dog love riding as much as she does. All I have to do is say "You wanna go bye bye" and she's at the door waiting, ready to go. I know there are a lot of people in this world that hate APBT's, but if they really got to know them, maybe they would learn to love them instead of hating on them so much. Yeah they have huge mouths and big teeth, but so does a German Shepard. If you treat the dog right, then it will love you unconditionally.
The problem lies where the owner abuses and neglects the animal. Any animal that is mistreated has the ability to retaliate when it's had enough abuse. Not all dogs are bad. People don't seem to understand that, and they want to label certain dogs (not just pits) as monsters. It's not fair to the dogs that are kind and loving; they all shouldn't have to pay for a few bad dogs mistakes.
I have yet to meet a "monster" pit. Every one I have met has been so sweet. I'm sure there are probably mean ones out there, but that doesn't change the way I feel about them. I think they are a wonderful breed. People are always going to bash them and hate them. All I can do is try to show people how good they can be and fight against any BSL. That's what I am going to do. I love my Pit and would do anything for her. If they ever try to outlaw them where I live, I guess I'll be moving.
I need to work on getting a thicker skin when people talk bad about the breed. It really annoys me, but it does no good to blow up at the ignorance of people. If you throw a fit, it just feeds the flame. Bashers thrive off of negative energy and they love to hurt others. It's like they get a sense of power from it. The best advice that all of my friends have given me is to grow a thick skin and show them the good things about my dog and all APBT's. We as APBT owners have to show people the good in our dogs. We can do this by getting their Canine Good Citizen and maybe even have them trained to be a service dog. More good things about APBT's need to get out there and it's up to us to do it. If you own a APBT or any type of dog that is looked down upon from society, get the good word out about them! Don't stop fighting for your dog's rights!
Fight for your Pit's rights!

Just some thoughts....
Over the past couple of days I have discovered a blog called Cravens Desires. This blog does nothing but bash the American Pit Bull Terrier! The only thing they write about is Pit Bull attacks. Why are they leaving out poodle attacks and various other attacks? They are just prejudiced I guess. APBT's should never be human aggressive, if they are, that is a major fault. Any type of dog has the potential to attack something, NOT JUST PITS!!! I bet most of these bashers haven't even been around a true APBT. APBT's are one of the most intelligent breeds there are. They love to get lots of praise and love to please their owners. If an APBT is treated with love and respect, it will show. APBT's are NOT for everyone. If you ever think of owning one, do your research 1st. They need lots of love and attention. Exercise is important too because they have so much energy. They also need to be trained properly. Back to Craven, he or she or it needs to get some education and stop being prejudiced. APBT's get their CGC, they have become service dogs, and make great companions. I will close in saying this, for those of us who love the APBT, we need to do all we can to protect them. Many of them would risk their lives to save us, I would do the same for them. I love my APBT and will do anything to protect her. Take care everyone.
Much APBT love, Miranda
